Central Catholic is 2-8 against the Mustangs since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Central Catholic Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Oakdale Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Central Catholic is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Even though Central Catholic has not done well against the Lancers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Central Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over the Lancers. The victory was all the more spectacular given Central Catholic's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while the Lancers are ranked 139th).
Meanwhile, Oakdale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 50-30 defeat at the hands of Manteca.
Central Catholic's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. As for Oakdale, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.
Central Catholic came up short against the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in January, falling 48-38. Can Central Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
