Softball Recap: Blue River Has No Trouble Against Centennial

Blue River won against Wilber-Clatonia on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Blue River blew past the Centennial Broncos 11-1. Considering Blue River has won six games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Lindsley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Watts, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Olivia Adams was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Blue River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only posted an OBP of .105.

Blue River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Centennial, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue River will take on Tournament Opponent at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Centennial, they will challenge Polk County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Slammers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
