Basketball Recap: West Charlotte Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when West Charlotte challenged Chambers on Tuesday. The West Charlotte Lions took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chambers Cougars. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Loss or not, West Charlotte got some senior leadership from Chase Bryson and DJ Williams. Bryson went 8 of 13 to rack up 18 points in addition to six assists and six boards, while Williams went 9 for 13 en route to 19 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Bryson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Faison, who posted six points.

Chambers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tarris Bouie III, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Bouie III a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Markus Kerr, who went 10 for 17 on his way to 24 points.

West Charlotte's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Chambers, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Charlotte will welcome North Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North Mecklenburg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests. As for Chambers, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mallard Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chambers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 74.3 points per game this season.
