Riverview is a perfect 3-0 against Annapolis since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 12:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverview has three straight victories, Annapolis has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Riverview proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Lincoln Park 4-3.
Riverview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Ferrara, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Ferrara a new career-high. Gavin Hachenski also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Everest Collegiate hit Annapolis with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Everest Collegiate.
Cunningham Dominic made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zavier Reid, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Riverview's win bumped their record up to 9-13-1. As for Annapolis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-18.
Annapolis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Riverview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Annapolis, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Riverview keep running through batters, or will the Cougars buck the trend?
Riverview got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Annapolis by a conclusive 15-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
