Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Gatewood's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Gatewood hadn't done well against Pinewood Christian recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Gators walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 last Thursday.

Gatewood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Brannen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Gatewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Pinewood Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gatewood will head out to face off against First Presbyterian Day at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Gators surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pinewood Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Westfield School at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
