The Millikan Rams will take on the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Long Beach Poly will be up against a hot Millikan squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Millikan never let Jordan get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by eight runs or more this season.
Thomas Ramsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other pitching news, Ian Carmona looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Shane Wally was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Xavier Kennard was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Millikan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Long Beach Poly). They blew past Cabrillo 16-1 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Ryan King looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caleb Safotu, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaiyah Gutierrez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Long Beach Poly moved to 3-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Millikan, their record now sits at 6-4.
Millikan took their victory against Long Beach Poly when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1. Will Millikan repeat their success, or does Long Beach Poly have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
