Rock Canyon has gone 8-2 against Heritage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Jaguars will challenge the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. Rock Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Rock Canyon was able to grind out a solid victory over Mountain Vista, taking the game 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.
Rock Canyon let Dakota Dugan and Lucy Ueland run wild. Dugan went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs, while Ueland went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Dugan has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Lowery, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Heritage hadn't done well against Douglas County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Huskies. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The team relied heavily on Bleu Meyer, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maddie Barbre, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Rock Canyon's record is now 12-8. As for Heritage, their record now sits at 6-13.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rock Canyon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rock Canyon might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Heritage in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
