Encinal has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Encinal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Encinal humbled Mt. Eden with a 58-18 victory. The win was just what Encinal needed coming off of a 65-43 defeat in their prior contest.
Encinal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jazzy Alcantar led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lola Whalen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 21 rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Notre Dame's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight loss. They fell just short of Arroyo by a score of 48-45.
Encinal is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-15.
Encinal strolled past St. Joseph Notre Dame when the teams last played back in January by a score of 51-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Encinal since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
