The San Domenico Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Pinewood Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
San Domenico had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They really took it to Marin Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-23 win on the road. Given San Domenico's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Wildcats are ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Pinewood entered their tilt with the Pride with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Pinewood took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 70-39 win over the Pride. Pinewood pushed the score to 53-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pride had little chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Facelo, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 3 assists. Facelo is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last four games she's played. Katherine Garr was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds.
San Domenico has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Pinewood, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
