The Leyton Warriors put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They rang in the new year with a 52-39 victory over Paxton.
Paxton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Fote, who scored 18 points. Fote continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacelyn Jorgensen, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Leyton pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Paxton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Leyton will be playing in front of their home fans against Hay Springs on Saturday. Hay Springs will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Paxton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Maywood/Hayes Center at 5:00 p.m. on January 5th. Maywood/Hayes Center's defense has only allowed 27 points per game this season, so Paxton's offense will have their work cut out for Paxton.
