The Grant Pacers are on the road again on Monday and play against the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Grant beat Sheldon 57-49. Given Grant's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Sheldon is ranked 657th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalaysia Clements led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. Clements is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Washington, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Del Oro in a 60-46 win over St. Francis on Saturday.
Grant pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Del Oro, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Grant beat Del Oro 65-58 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grant since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
