The Monte Vista Mustangs and the San Ramon Valley Wolves squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Monte Vista Mustangs had to settle for second. Their rough 66-44 loss to the Wolves might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Monte Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while San Ramon Valley is ranked 11th).
Despite the loss, Monte Vista saw an underclassman step up: Alyssa Rudd dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Rudd is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mahi Jariwala, who scored eight points.
Monte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for San Ramon Valley, the win was the 24th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-1.
Monte Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. San Ramon Valley also has no future games currently scheduled.
