The Bloomington Bruins are taking a road trip to square off against the Carter Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomington will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Bloomington's win against Eisenhower wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bruins never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Thursday.
Not much got past Robert Bliss, who gave up just a hit to keep Eisenhower off the board. Bliss has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nathan Martin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayden Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Carter hadn't done well against Jurupa Hills recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Spartans 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Angel Acevedo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Acevedo was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
Acevedo wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Raul Rodarte, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave Rodarte a new career-high. Jesus Enriquez was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Bloomington's record now sits at 17-5. As for Carter, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Everything went Bloomington's way against Carter when the teams last played back in March, as Bloomington made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
