Baseball Game Preview: East Greenwich Avengers vs. Burrillville Broncos

East Greenwich has gone a perfect 3-0 against Burrillville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Avengers are taking a road trip to square off against the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Burrillville will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: East Greenwich extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Avengers put the hurt on St. Raphael Academy with a sharp 10-1 win.

Meanwhile, Burrillville faced North Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Broncos blew past the Cougars 13-2. Considering the Broncos have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Daniel Delmonaco made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jordan Furtado was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jack Dichiaro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Burrillville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Providence only posted an OBP of .208.

Burrillville's record now sits at 9-5. As for East Greenwich, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

East Greenwich took their victory against Burrillville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. Do the Avengers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
