University City has gone 9-1 against San Diego recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. University City will take on San Diego in a tournament on Friday. University City's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against El Capitan by a score of 4-0.
Carson Hildebrandt looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, University City saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Barth, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that Barth scored this season.
Meanwhile, San Diego made easy work of Mount Miguel on Tuesday and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Cavers have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Esteban Quintana looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of San Diego's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Harris, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Aidan Hochman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
San Diego hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
University City's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for San Diego, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
