Lower Lake is 9-1 against St. Helena since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Lower Lake Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the St. Helena Saints at 7:00 p.m. Lower Lake is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Lower Lake beat Willits 50-40. The win was just what Lower Lake needed coming off of a 54-27 defeat in their prior match.
Lower Lake's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tiahna Tubbs, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Tubbs is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Brooke Benson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Helena's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Bragg.
Lower Lake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for St. Helena, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Lower Lake couldn't quite finish off St. Helena when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 47-44. Can Lower Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
