Birmingham put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Santiago Sharks by a score of 47-36. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Sharks are ranked 591st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Birmingham got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Tanijiri out in front who posted 17 points and six assists. Tanijiri's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydin-Lynn Walker, who went 6-for-14 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Birmingham's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Santiago, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-12.

Birmingham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-41 win against La Canada on the 10th. As for Santiago, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Trabuco Hills at 11:30 a.m. on the 26th.
