Burroughs walked away with a 45-35 win over Pasadena on Friday. Given Burroughs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Pasadena is ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burroughs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariam Fahs out in front who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and five steals. Valentina Morales was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Burroughs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. As for Pasadena, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Burroughs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Alemany at 5:00 p.m. on January 20th. Alemany is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Pasadena, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Burbank at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burbank is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
