Preston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears. On the bright side, the 12- run effort marked the Knights' highest-scoring contest to date.
Rhylinn Sanders was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off five hits. Sanders was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Ava Thistlethwaite made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
