In Wednesday's league match, the host Fairmont Senior Polar Bears softball team scored a tight 13-12 victory over the Preston Knights.

The Polar Bears (4-3) will now prepare for their match against Buckhannon-Upshur (Buckhannon, WV). The Buccaneers go into the Big Ten match with a 5-5 record. In their last match, Buckhannon-Upshur was nipped by Morgantown (Morgantown, WV), 12-0, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Knights battle the North Marion Huskies (Farmington, WV) in a Big Ten match, on Thursday, April 10. Preston will attempt to better on its 1-6 season record. The Huskies go into the match with a 4-4 record after their 25-10 league win over Liberty (Clarksburg, WV).
