The Foothill Cougars will head out to challenge the Eureka Loggers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Foothill is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Foothill's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Hamilton with a sharp 15-0 victory.
Kayden Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Williams was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Will Baker was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Connor Modesitt, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Eureka posted their closest win since April 27, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Rosa, sneaking past 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Loggers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.
Robert Williams and Garrett Levitt did most of the damage at the plate: Williams scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Levitt scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Williams is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Cole Zeller was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Foothill's record now sits at 3-0. As for Eureka, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Eureka's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Foothill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. It's a different story for Eureka, though, as they've only averaged .298. Will they be able to contain Foothill's hitters?
Foothill beat Eureka 12-8 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Foothill since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
