The Orthopaedic Vipers's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. Everything went their way against Downtown Magnets as Orthopaedic made off with a 40-15 victory. For Orthopaedic, this counts as revenge for the 45-13 defeat Downtown Magnets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Downtown Magnets lost, one person who can't be blamed is Melody Kuang. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with 4 blocks. Kuang scored a full 86.7% of Downtown Magnets' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The last time Orthopaedic lost on the road was back last Wednesday. Having now won five straight away matchups, they've pushed their record up to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Downtown Magnets, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Orthopaedic will head out on the road to face off against Aspire Ollin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Aspire Ollin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Downtown Magnets, they will be playing in front of their home fans against USC-MAE at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. USC-MAE's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so Downtown Magnets' offense will have their work cut out for Downtown Magnets.
