The King Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Patriot Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In Thursday's Canine Competition, King came out on top. They blew past JW North 14-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wolves have posted since April 3, 2024.
Carlos Moreno made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Moreno was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Janson Moreno, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Adan Diaz, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
King always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Patriot put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Jurupa Hills.
Like King, Patriot also got a great game from a two-way player: Robert Betancourt. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Betancourt was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Noah Leon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Dustin Thayer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
The victory got King back to even at 1-1. As for Patriot, their record is now 3-0.
