The Bear Creek Bruins are taking a road trip to face off against the Tokay Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Bear Creek's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
Bear Creek proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Weston Ranch 16-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted since March 1st.

Bear Creek let Jaxson Bayani and Tyler Gilbert run wild. Bayani got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Gilbert scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Gilbert has posted since back in May of 2024. Brayden Schoennauer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Bear Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.6.
Meanwhile, Tokay came tearing into Saturday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Titans. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Zack Sanchez and Brock Sell did most of the damage at the plate: Sanchez went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI, while Sell scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Sell is becoming a predictor of Tokay's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Apalit, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Bear Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Tokay, their record is now 8-9.
Bear Creek came up short against Tokay when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
