The Wyalusing Valley Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Troy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Wyalusing Valley earned a 45-37 win over North Penn-Liberty. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wyalusing Valley.
Meanwhile, Troy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past Sayre 60-19 on the road. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 15 more assists than your opponent, as Troy did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Troy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kailyn Sterling, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sterling has scored at least 25% of Troy's points. Another player making a difference was Giana Renzi, who scored ten points along with nine steals and five assists.
Wyalusing Valley's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Troy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Wyalusing Valley took a serious blow against Troy when the teams last played back in January, falling 56-29. Can Wyalusing Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
