The Brookville Raiders lost against the Punxsutawney Chucks back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Brookville was dealt a 60-24 defeat at the hands of Punxsutawney. While losing is never fun, Brookville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Punxsutawney is ranked 56th).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Brookville struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Brookville bumped their record down to 4-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Punxsutawney, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Brookville will head out on the road to face off against Union at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Union is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Punxsutawney, they will stay at home for another game and welcome DuBois Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th.
