On Friday, Henderson was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Box Elder. While losing is never fun, Henderson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 325th in Pennsylvania, while Box Elder is ranked 36th in Utah).
Ashlyn Wight was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds for Box Elder. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Vranes, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Henderson's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Box Elder, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Henderson will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coatesville at 6:45 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Box Elder won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clarkstown South at 8:30 a.m. on December 16th.
