Baseball Game Preview: Saint Francis Lancers vs. Bellarmine College Prep Bells

For the second straight game, Saint Francis will face off against Bellarmine College Prep. The Lancers will host the Bells at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Saint Francis 1.9, Bellarmine College Prep 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Saint Francis is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Bellarmine College Prep on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Bells: they've now won four in a row.

Landon Kim tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Matteo Pignati was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Leeper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Saint Francis pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bellarmine College Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Saint Francis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bellarmine College Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts.
