Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wonderful College Prep Academy). They pulled ahead with a 39-38 photo finish over the Alpaugh Buffalos on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Dimonique Valenzuela, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 20 points.
Several Buffalos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carolina Arrieta, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Arrieta has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosalyn Perez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Wonderful College Prep Academy's record now sits at 4-10. As for Alpaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
Wonderful College Prep Academy will face off against Kings Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kings Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Alpaugh, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 35-27 victory against Laton on the 5th.
