In what's become a running theme this season, the Hazleton Area Cougars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They breezed by Wilkes-Barre on the road to the tune of 64-35. The win was familiar territory for Hazleton Area who now have ten in a row.
Leading Hazleton Area to victory were Kaitlyn Bindas and Kayla Lagowy. Bindas scored 16 points along with three steals, while Lagowy scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals. Lagowy also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Reimold, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Hazleton Area pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Wilkes-Barre, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Hazleton Area will look to defend their home court on Monday against Wyoming Valley West at 7:15 p.m. Wyoming Valley West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 385th, while Hazleton Area is ranked 19th). As for Wilkes-Barre, they will head out on the road to take on Berwick at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Berwick is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
