Basketball Recap: Lynwood Takes a Loss

Lynwood came into this matchup off a tough 46-point defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the JSerra Catholic Lions by a score of 66-64 on Friday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Lynwood saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaylee Albritton went 9-for-15 to rack up 25 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Albritton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shanilah Ewing, who shot 43% from the field en route to 12 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Lynwood is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. As for JSerra Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Lynwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-55 victory against Harvard-Westlake on the 29th. As for JSerra Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-53 win against Mira Costa on the 29th.
