The Sacred Heart of Jesus Comets waltzed into their contest Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against St. Genevieve by a score of 41-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sacred Heart of Jesus also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.
Sacred Heart of Jesus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xitlali Botts, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 20 rebounds. Botts hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Michelle Canete was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Sacred Heart of Jesus' victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-10. As for St. Genevieve, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart of Jesus will challenge Ramona Convent at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ramona Convent will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for St. Genevieve, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
