The Cypress Centurions had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 52-46 W over Marina on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Cypress, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Cypress can attribute much of their success to Lauryn Nakamura, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Choi, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Marina still got an impressive performance from Rylee Bradley, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Bradley's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Maria Tejeda was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Marina struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cypress racked up 13 assists.
Cypress' victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Marina, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.
Cypress and Tustin will face off at 6:15 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Marina, they will head out on the road to face off against Fountain Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fountain Valley will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
