 Wyatt Caid made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he  pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double. Those  three  runs gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Luke Meszaros was  incredible,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and one  double. That's the most  stolen bases  he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Charley Gless, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with four  RBI and one  stolen base.
 Bakersfield  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .636. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Bakersfield's win  ended  an  eight-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 3-23-1. As for Independence, their loss was  their fourth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 14-13.
Bakersfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday.
