Not much got past Mia Villafranca, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Timnath off the board. Villafranca has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Raabe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.
Thompson Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timnath struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Berthoud waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Grizzlies.
Madelyn Kuntz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Alana Lukensow, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Thompson Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Berthoud, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Thompson Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Berthoud struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
