Softball Recap: Libby Wins Going Away Against Butte Central Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Libby). They put the hurt on the Butte Central Catholic Maroons with a sharp 16-3 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Weslee MacDonald tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leah Rusdal, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bently Houston, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Libby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Libby and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Butte Central Catholic, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Libby is taking a road trip to challenge Hamilton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Butte Central Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Frenchtown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Maroons surely won't give up without a fight.
