The Chavez Titans waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 47-28 win over Taft. That's another feather in the cap for Chavez, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Hannah Diaz, who scored 21 points along with four blocks. Another player making a difference was Chloe Lopez, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Taft still got an impressive performance from Shelby Gregory, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaysia Taylor, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.

Chavez pushed their record up to 7-8 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Taft, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
