East Carteret is on a 15-game streak of home wins, while Midway is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mariners will welcome the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (East Carteret 1.2, Midway 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
East Carteret is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against North Lenoir as they made off with a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Mariners, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

East Carteret let Bryan Hadder and Jacob Grimm run wild. Hadder got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Grimm went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Hadder a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Jenkins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
East Carteret always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Lenoir only posted an OBP of .263.
Meanwhile, Midway got themselves on the board against Ayden - Grifton on Friday, but Ayden - Grifton never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Chargers.
Wyatt Herring made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Herring wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Harry Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Midway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for East Carteret, their victory bumped their record up to 26-0.
East Carteret couldn't quite finish off Midway when the teams last played back in May of 2023 and fell 4-2. Will the Mariners have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
