The Baldwin Park Braves will face off against the Azusa Aztecs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Baldwin Park is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Duarte just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 8-3 to the Falcons.
Julian Huerta was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Azusa had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Nobles as they made off with a 10-4 win.
Aidan Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Azusa is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Anthony Rojas was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Matt Huizar was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Azusa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 13 consecutive contests.
Baldwin Park's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Azusa, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Baldwin Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Azusa struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Baldwin Park beat Azusa 9-6 in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Aztecs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
