The Xavier Prep Saints scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Vaughn 81-18 on the road. The result was nothing new for Xavier Prep, who have now won eight games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Xavier Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amoree Ferrel led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Ferrel continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Williams, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Vaughn struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Xavier Prep's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.56 points. As for Vaughn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.
Xavier Prep will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Avalon at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Avalon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 914th, while Xavier Prep is ranked 210th). Vaughn won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bishop Diego at 10:00 a.m. on December 28, 2023. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Galilea De la cruz and Andrea Cervantes.
