The Sacred Heart Academy Spartans and the Moore Catholic Mavericks will face off at 1:30 p.m. on December 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sacred Heart Academy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Holy Cross last Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 58-55.
Meanwhile, Moore Catholic put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 57-19 win over St. Edmund Prep. Moore Catholic might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 23 points or more this season.
Moore Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brianna Caliri, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Caliri has scored at least 25% of Moore Catholic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Costanzo, who scored eight points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Sacred Heart Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Moore Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Sacred Heart Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Moore Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 62-57 win.
