Westfield School hasn't had much luck against Brookstone recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hornets will welcome the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Westfield School beat Southland Academy 5-1. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Brookstone got the win against Vernon on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-5. Considering the Cougars have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hudson Koon was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Thomas Caves looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Brennan Neal was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Luke Lowery, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Westfield School's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Brookstone, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.
