Salem dropped down to 3-3 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Therrell Panthers by a score of 5-3. The matchup marked the Seminoles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Jordan Bowen put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bowen was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Bowen wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jamil Harris, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
As for Therrell, they pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.
Like Salem, Therrell also got a great game from a two-way player: Raysean Eberhart. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Eberhart was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camryn Corbin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Janai Smith was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will take on Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Therrell, they will square off against McDonough at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
