The Enochs Eagles lost against the Hughson Huskies back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Enochs was beaten by Hughson 75-36. While losing is never fun, Enochs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Hughson is ranked 157th).
Enochs' loss came despite strong showings from Natalie Quinones and Maya Ramsay. Quinones scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks, while Ramsay scored 8 points along with 7 steals. Quinones scored a full 27.8% of Enochs' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Madi Duron was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 17 steals for Hughson. That makes it two consecutive games in which Duron has scored at least 25% of Hughson's points. Another player making a difference was Kareena Kang, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds.
Enochs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Hughson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Enochs will stay at home for another game and welcome Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on December 4th. Hughson will take on Atwater at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
