The Wasco Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. The match between Wasco and Taft wasn't particularly close, with Wasco falling 62-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wasco in their matchups with Taft: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Wasco saw an underclassman step up: Camila Castillo (JV) scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Castillo (JV) has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cassandra Evangelista, who scored six points along with two steals.
Taft got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alaysia Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Taylor continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Taira Leota was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Wasco bumped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wasco will take on Shafter at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Shafter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Wasco likes a good challenge. As for Taft, they will be playing at home against Delano at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
