Mount Miguel is 8-2 against the Eagles since March of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Mount Miguel struggled with threes on Friday (the Vaqueros had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mount Miguel was outmatched by the Vaqueros at home and fell 70-13. While losing is never fun, Mount Miguel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1198th, while the Vaqueros are ranked 323rd).
Despite the loss, Mount Miguel saw an underclassman step up: AJ Jones scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Granite Hills was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 41-36 to the Highlanders. Granite Hills has not had much luck with the Highlanders recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Mount Miguel has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-22 record this season. As for Granite Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Mount Miguel was dealt a bruising 74-42 defeat at the hands of the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Granite Hills' Kerstena Tomika, who scored 30 points.
