Basketball Recap: Modoc Skates Past Lassen with Ease

There's no place like home for Modoc, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They breezed by the Lassen Grizzlies to the tune of 66-37 on Monday. The Braves' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Modoc got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mackenzie Diven out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Diven has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Aubree Knighton was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Modoc was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Lassen still got an impressive performance from Nellie Ratcliff, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Ratcliff a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brook Medovitch, who posted two points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Modoc's record now sits at 4-5. As for Lassen, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-4.

Modoc won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Modoc is facing Lakeview at the right time seeing as Lakeview is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Lassen will take on Del Norte in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
