Gridley is 8-2 against Las Plumas since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Gridley Bulldogs will stay at home for another game and welcome the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Gridley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Gridley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-39 to Oroville. That's two games in a row now that Gridley has lost by exactly five points.
Despite the loss, Gridley had strong showings from Brook Marr, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 14 rebounds, and nine blocks, and AnaGloria Luevano, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That was a full 56.4% of Gridley's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Las Plumas earned a 36-28 win over Corning on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Las Plumas.
Gridley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Las Plumas, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Gridley was able to grind out a solid win over Las Plumas in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 43-32. Will Gridley repeat their success, or does Las Plumas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
