Hueneme extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heritage Christian Warriors. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.
Hueneme handed starting duties to Steven Hernandez, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Hueneme saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allan Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Cristian Solis was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
As for Heritage Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season.
On Heritage Christian's side, Noah Arreola made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Arreola was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one RBI.
In other pitching news, Christian Ahuja got the start for Heritage Christian and what a start it was: he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ahuja has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Heritage Christian let Christian Boldt and Crosby Hirtensteiner run wild. Boldt went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Hirtensteiner went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Boldt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
Coming up, Hueneme will head out on the road to take on Santa Clara at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Saints have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.2 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Heritage Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Castaic at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
