Baseball Recap: Miller County Has No Trouble Against Mitchell County

While Miller County put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Mitchell County. Miller County put the hurt on Mitchell County with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kolby Yates made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Miller County got a massive performance out of Tyler Thornton, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Thornton has posted since back in March of 2024. Andrew Keown also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Miller County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell County only posted an OBP of .176.

Miller County pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Mitchell County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
